Let’s get away from the iPhone 4S reporting for a minute and go on to something else – the iPad 2 (with iOS 5) and the Apple TV.
If you’re considering getting an Apple TV but don’t have a reason why – here’s a big one.
One of the least talked about features of the Apple TV and the iPad 2 is called ‘video mirroring’. When enabled, a user can project his or her iPad 2 screen wirelessly to a modern TV. Make sure the Apple TV and the iPad 2 are on the same wireless network.
How do you do it? Here’s how:
1. Make sure your TV, Apple TV, and your iPad 2 are ON.
2. On the iPad 2, make sure you’re on the first “page”.
3. Double click the HOME Button.
4. Look for a button with a square and a triangle. Tap it.
5. A menu will pop-up showing the available Apple TV(s).
6. Select the Apple TV that you wish to project the iPad screen on to.
7. That’s it.
This mode will project almost anything that’s currently on the iPad’s screen, such as some games, movies, a Keynote Presentation etc.
How do you enable mirroring on the 4S? For example, if I am in Safari on my iPhone 4S, how do I mirror to my appletv? I tried the double-click the home button, but what next? AppleTV is updated with the latest software.
I think Mirroring the screen is only available on the iPad. I think you can only mirror your music to the AppleTV.
If I am wrong, someone please feel free to correct me.
On this webpage (for iphone 4S), it states that you can mirror the iphone 4S, including web pages on safari:
“AirPlay Mirroring lets you share exactly what’s on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S with everyone in the room. Stream web pages, spreadsheets, lessons, games, photos, videos, and more to your HDTV via Apple TV…”

I stand corrected. Thanks.

The mirroring suuuucks! It crashes my 2 almost every time…iOS 5 is lame.
Do a reboot (press HOME and POWER at the same time until the Apple logo shows up) and try again. Works fine for me.
