Tech Tricks

Which laptop should you buy? This is not the right question because there are multiple options available in the market, and all of these offer distinctive features. There isn’t a single laptop which offers you everything you need. So, instead of asking which laptop brand is the best, you should instead set criteria to help yourself make a wise decision before splurging on a new device.

1#) Size

It comes to laptop size; it does matter. Depending on if you are a student, writer, or blogger, a business owner, or work in an organization, make sure screen size is large enough that fits your needs. Size is not like the RAM or ROM of your device because it can never be upgraded, therefore choose wisely.

The size should be selected based upon your need; for instance, if you are looking for laptops for college, the display size should be somewhere from 13.3 inches to 15.6 inches. Whereas if you sit in the office for the whole day, you should go for a 15.6 inches 17.3 inches screen.

You will also find 11.6 inches, 12.5 inches, and 14 inches laptops in the market weighing between 1 kg to 1.5 kg. These are portable laptops and are suitable if you have to carry it with yourself.

2#) Thickness

Other than size, the thickness of laptops significantly affects their overall look and performance. Notebooks offer better performance and portability. In contrast, convertibles, also known as 2 in 1 PCs or 2 in 1 laptop, can be folded away, i.e., to remove the keyboard & use the laptop in tablet mode.

Such a laptop search suitable for office work and bloggers. Keep in mind that gaming laptops tend to be bulkier and offer significantly different specifications.

3#) Processor and graphics

The computer processor determines how efficiently it can run specific programs. The processor is also responsible for multitasking and everything you expect of laptops. Most of the laptops have Intel processors, which makes them ultraportable.

Apple MacBook Air has ultra-low-voltage results, which means they draw less power dance on other chips. Quad-core and dual-core processors also deliver powerful performance and help in playing 1080 p videos and system-intensive programs.

Graphics are also important to consider because when you need to play HD games or videos on my laptop, most of the integrated graphics do not support them.

4#) Memory

Laptops having less than 4GB RAM should be avoided. Experts recommend that laptops must have at least 8GB memory to start with. There are a lot of applications that use a large amount of RAM. Choosing the one with smaller memory will only make your work harder. We will recommend you to go for a laptop with at least 16 GB RAM if you want to work smoothly on your laptop.

Remember that every piece running on a computer stores data in RAM; therefore, the more the RAM, the better. Note that RAM can be upgraded at any time.

5#) Ports and expandability

Everyone is familiar with USB ports but unaware that USB 3.0 ports can be ten times faster than their previous versions. It transfers the data at a speed of 400 megabytes per second. If you are thinking of buying a new laptop or upgrading your existing one, you should consider USB 3.0 hardware.

6#) Security features

Most of us have personal information stored on our computers. Whether it is connected to the internet or not, our data is always at risk. The laptops even are more exposed to information-stealing than heavy machines. You should, therefore, consider the laptop having Kensington security slots. It is an upgraded security feature that ensures that no data loss happens.
